"Planimal" cells, some thoughts on colonizing Mars, updates on robots and SpaceX, Iceland could get solar power from space, the human spliceosome project finishes...and a whole lot more.
Great article, as always. Also, I think many of us are quietly optimistic about Elon Musk being involved in government. The US feels like a coiled spring ready to boom.
This is a super cool image and another great issue.
Elon Musks sudden dive into politics, ostensibly, to cut red tape and spending, will either be a stunning success or miserable failure.
Either way, there is little doubt that the regulatory thicket has been getting denser every year, and this is stifling our ability to innovate and advance

I'm pretty stoked man, it could be a very good few years.
Good analogy. We will see if it holds.
I like number 18 the best.
About the "Planimal" Cells. Do you think a permanent uptake like the endosymbiont theory for Mitochondria is possible?
I don't see why not. It'll need some significant engineering to work though.

Thanks J.K.! Indeed, I'm looking forward to the regulatory burden being cut. That alone will help us leap forward in a hurry.
